Quality and Nature.
Colonnella is a village in
the Abruzzo Region; it is rich
in history and in artistic
beauties; thanks to its
pseudo-climatic features which
make it suitable for different
forms of growing, it is one of
the most blooming agricultural
centres in Val Vibrata.
This is the place where
Colonnella Cooperative wine
grower’s association was born in
1971 through a small group of
farmers.
Today “Colonnella” Cooperative
wine grower’s association is a
reality which has more than 300
members who give it grapes
coming from roughly 400 hectares
and who grow vintage and
selected wines on the sweet and
sunny hills of Val Vibrata by
making use of the old craft that
is typical of true wine-dressers.
The species of wine are the
following classical ones:
Trebbiano and Montepulciano
d’Abruzzo, of the Passerina and
Malvasia, to which Merlot,
Cabertnet Sauvignon and Black
Pinot red berry were added as
well as Chardonnay and Riesling
white berry.
Growing methods are the
traditional ones, namely awning
and espalier. Wine yearly
production goes up to 35000 hl.
The Cooperative wine grower’s
association undergoes the most
careful cures either in terms of
container choice or of
environmental hygiene. The wine
cellar capacity reaches up to
60000 hl of which 1500 in French
durmast cask that are
particularly suitable for wine’s
harmonious ripening and the slow
vintage wine ageing.
Unmistakable and genuine
flavours are the outcome of a
generous nature as well as of
man's skilful experience.
The wine cellar is provided with
a direct outlet where it is
possible to taste and buy
produced wines.
The opening time is as follows:
8-12 / 15-18 on weekdays and
8-12 on Saturdays. |
